Will I need to do CAPD 3x's weekly for same amount of times (9hrs)???...as like HEMO???
Also, when my Peritoneal catherer is inserted will it be "UNIVERSAL" for either a XXXXX OR XXXXXXX Dialysis machine???
As a Nephrologist, what RECORDS,prescriptions, meds, etc. would YOU provide a patient traveling internationally

Hello
Thanks for getting back to me
1. You will have to do CAPD every day, not three times a week. Dialysis fluid should be put in and drained out atleast three times day
2. Peritoneal catheter will be universal. You will be able to use any dialysis fluid
3. I would recommend him to continue all his present medication. I also would ask him to infuse a higher concentration dialysate like 7.5% during the travel. This makes sure that the dialysis continues even during the flight. I would also see for the volume status and step up on the diuretics so that breathlessness does not occur during the flight.
4. Hypertensive control is the most important part in all of this

DO YOU MEAN 1 DAY BEFORE TRAVEL EACH WAY????
This makes sure that the dialysis continues even during the flight. I would also see for the volume status and step up on the diuretics ....
TAKE THE DIURETICS 1DAY BEFORE OR ON DAY OF TRAVEL????? I DON"T TAKE THEM DAILY.. ONLY IF I"M SWELLING???so that breathlessness does not occur during the flight. "PERITONEAL CATHERER GOOD FOR ALL DIALYSIS MACHINES????

Hello
I am sorry if I was not clear the first time. I will try and make it simple
1. Using a higher concentration big ensures that you will not become breathless 'during' the travel. That is while you are in the plane.
2. That is exactly what i meant by 'volume status'. Which means that I would make sure that there is no swelling or just minimal swelling 'on the day of the travel. It is important that you keep diuretics with you. I prefer Torsamide, they are highly effective.

SHOULD HIGHER CONCENTRATION BE GIVEN DAY BEFORE TRAVELING OR IN GENERAL WHILE ON TRIP???? WHEN????
Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
Hello
The higher concentration is given the day before the travelling.
If the travel is less than 8 hours, you can fill in the fluid into the peritoneum before you leave the house and drain it out once you reach the destination.
