Is It Necessary To Have Rabies Vaccine Post Vaccinated Dog Bite?
Question: I live in XXXXXXX in XXXXXXX My pet labrador dog who is 4 months old is already vaccinated for rabies. Sometimes he bites me or my children while playing. Is there any chance of we getting rabies ?

Our dog has not got in to contact with other dogs, but we take him for a walk in our building compound for nearly an hour ever day.He has been given Raksharab vaccine in Oct 2014 and followed up with Canvac r vaccine by his Vet in Nov 2014.
Do you think that he is at risk of contracting Rabies and we at risk of getting Rabies through him, because we are in constant touch with our Dog? I raise this querry only because he is not always at home as you presumed.

In the situation described by you, there is no need to worry at all. It is completely safe to go for walks in your building. Once 28 days of vaccination are over then even going out can be considered acceptable but if another animal bites him or he bites another animal then you should take your pet to the vet for a booster dose of vaccination if required.
If you follow above rules then there is no risk of rabies to you or your children.
