Is It Necessary To Have Biopsy For Inflammation In Bladder?

Question: Hey Dr. XXXXXXX thanks for the follow up. Well i went to the Urologist and he did an ultrasound of the bladder and prostate which was negative a urine cytology which came back negative too. Lastly he did a cystoscopy which wasnt too bad and said my bladder was all clear but my prostate looked like it had inflammation but he saw something that looked benign there which didnt look malignant and he wants to take a biopsy just to say it's fine and do a follow up cystoscopy in a month and see if everything clears up. He started me on Ciproflaxin 500mg 2x day for 3 weeks and he said this is good for inflammation of the prostate and possible infection. What are your thoughts should i still worry
Brief answer...I concur with the suggestion given by your urologist

Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I totally agree with what your urologist says.
Although chances of the lesion coming out benign is almost 100% but still to be dead sure,a biopsy would be the ideal tool to differentiate between two.
An antibiotic course of three weeks ( ciprofloxacin ) should be enough to clear the inflammation which is generally bacterial in nature.
A follow up cystoscopy in a month would be able to clear the picture.
There is nothing to worry and hence it would be best on your part to go ahead with the advice of your doctor.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck.
Thanks
