Is It Normal For Bleeding To Happen During Menopause?

Not normal, needs to be worked up.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
This is known as post menopausal bleeding and it is not normal.
You do not need to panic though.
However, it needs workup.
There could be various reasons for this.
The main condition is - atrophic vaginitis.
Post menopause, the vaginal mucosa dries up due to lack of estrogen, making it more prone to infections, breakage, spotting and bleeding.
This is treated with topical estrogen creams.
Rough sex or an infection might sometimes precipitate this.
A Pap smear is a must to rule out any cervical lesion of course.
Hope you are not on any blood thinners or other such medications / hormones .
You would require to consult a Gynecologist and go in for an internal exam, Pap smear and pelvic ultrasound scan.
That would reveal the diagnosis.
All the best
PLease feel free to discuss further.
