Brief Answer:
Ultrasound can confirm this
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I will be happy to assist you with query regarding abortion.
By 6 weeks of pregnancy you should be able to see gestational sac and fetal pole with possible heart beat of baby on ultrasound scan.
If there is miscarriage, the ultrasound will be able to identify the miscarriage.
Let me know if you need any more clarification regarding this.

Hi,
Thank you for your response.
About 2 days ago an external ultrasound indicated that the embryo is 5 weeks 5 days and has a GS of 1.04 cm. No fetal pole or yolk sac were identified. Another comment was that the GS was seen within the body of the endometrial cavity.
Bleeding has increased, small to medium sized clots are also seen accompanied by cramps. What does all of this mean?
Thank you in advance.
Additional info:
The bleeding started out very light and was light brown in colour. It then increased and is now bright red. This has been occurring over a period of 10 days (to date).

Brief Answer:
Take rest
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
This shows that the baby is trying to abort. The bleeding is because of this.
But abortion does not happen easily and baby is likely to grow well. You take rest at home and bleeding will reduce slowly.
Let me know if you need any more help.
