![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I have a hematoma on my shin. It is the size of my palm and is 10 days old. The blood is disbursing down the leg and into foot. The bone is still sore and swollen. I am putting hot compresses on it.
Question - is it OK to fly 2 hours for a business trip?
Question - is it OK to fly 2 hours for a business trip?
Brief Answer:
yes it is okay to fly
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your question.
The hematoma that you are describing is superficial and it is normal for the blood to follow gravity and settle down in your foot. Having the hematoma does not put you at increased risk for DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) but like any traveler, it is good to move your legs around while you are flying and perhaps get up and walk around in the middle of the flight. The warm compresses are a good idea as this increases blood flow to the area and can help the hematoma resolve.
Good health to you.
