Is It Safe To Have Aldactone For Conn's Syndrome While Having Atrial Fibrillation?

Question: I have recently been diagnosed with Conn's Syndrome but I also have Atrial Fibrillation and T2DM (not medicated). I take 120mgs sotalol XXXXXXX and 160mgs of an evening I also take xarelto 20mgs daily and felodipine 5mgs BD and now Aldactone 50mgs XXXXXXX which will increase over time. I have stopped taking ramipril because of the aldactone but feel I am now at risk, could you please suggest another medication I could take that would provide me with a level of protection against AMI and CVA that is safe to take with aldactone. I am really desperate for some help; my cardiologist wont permit you to ask her any questions and my endocrinologist leaves that type of medication up to the cardiologist. The cardiologist wont speak to the endocrinologist (the endocrinologist would be happy to speak to her) . I am in Australia Thankyou XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
It is not mandatory to receive ACEI for protection
Detailed Answer:
Sir XXXXXXX
You should know that Aldactone also has favourable effects on heart in terms of protection and remodeling.
For risk reduction the post important thing is healthy lifestyle, regularly exercise and cholesterol level control. These are in the first line.
Not every patient receives ACEI (Ramipril), but it doesn't mean he/she is in increased risk.
Hope I could help you
Wishing you good health

Thankyou for the response that has managed to reduce some of my anxiety. I am on Lipitor; I was put on that when first admitted to hospital with AF; even though my Cholesterol was below 4 the routine was to place the patient on Lipitor. Do you think that ACE inhibitors add another layer of protection though? I have started dieting because I need to reduce my weight and commenced exercising.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
ACE inhibitors have additive protective effects. But more important is cholesterol levels and healthy lifestyle.
It is good that you take Lipitor. And you surely have to exercise and lose weight to have less cardiovascular risks. You will benefit more from lifestyle changes than from taking ACEI.

Is it common or a recommendation in the USA to prescribe ACE inhibitors for patients with the same problems ... if so would they be given Frusemide with the Aldactone to protect against hyperkalaemia? Sorry to be a pain but I want to have the best possible protection while I am focussing on weight loss and changing my diet.
Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
It is recommended to prescribe ACEI if there is a room for these medications. In case of hyperkalemia they are not prescribed, as their benefit is less than harm. Actually it is not a good idea to use furosemid to low potassium level then prescribe ACEI. We shouldn't forget that furosemid has its own side effects.
You just don't worry, continue your lifestyle changes, and everything will be ok.
Wishing you good health
