Question: My son is 22 days old and is only taking mother's milk. Is it OK for my wife to take dry fruits these days, will mother's milk be OK for the baby in this case?

Exclusive breast feed is advised till 6 months of age.There are so many advantages of breast feeding both for baby and mother.
Some of them are-
-Less chances of infection
-Emotional bonding with mother
-Better transfer of immunity
-Less chances of allergic reaction
-Attainment of proper growth
- Decreases the risk of breast,ovarian cancer in mother

The lactating mother should take extra calories (500 kcal extra)and fluid.
Extra calories can be supplemented with the help of increased intake of milk,pulses,dry fruits,meat and egg(if non vegetarian).A lactating mother should take at least 8 glasses of water per day.Food should be rich in calcium and vitamin(dates,green leafy vegetables).

So, continue the breast feeding till 6 months of age and encourage the mother to take nutritious diet with plenty of fluids.
