Sporolac DS is a probiotic and contains spores of lactobacillus bacilli a normal inhabitant of gut. In diarrhea usually there is loss of gut bacteria and use of probiotics helps in restoration of normal gut flora. There is no side effects of sporolac during lactation.

Most of the diarrhea are usually caused by viral infection. There is no need of antibiotic in this condition. But if stool is mixed with blood or mucus, bacterial infection is more likely. Cephalosporine group like cefixime is considered to be comparatively safe antibiotic during breastfeeding and can be used if bacterial infection is suspected. Please get it prescribed by a physician as it is a prescription medicine.

The main aim of management in diarrhea is to prevent dehydration by intake of plenty of fluids.
