Is Laser Varicose Vein Surgery Same As Heat Ablation?
Question: Is laser varicose vein surgery worse than ablation heat suregery?
Brief Answer:
Same procedure
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
Laser vein surgery is also called heat ablation where they use laser to eliminate varicose veins. It is the safest available treatment for varicose vein till date. I recommend you to go ahead with laser surgery for varicose veins. The only complication I have seen so far in my patients is slight itching and burning post surgery.
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

I have heard there is a greater chance of blood clot after the laser surgery. Is this correct? What I was told I have a leaky valve in my vein which is causing blood to pool at my ankle.I have also noticed the veins around my ankle protrude a lot more than they did.I have a vein in the back of my leg which gives me pain & stands out more now. I am going back in to see the Dr. next week but would also like another opinion. When I had the surgery on my right leg I had a bad vein that ran all the way up my leg with 3-4 bulges on it. Like I said before I have had no problem with that leg. Would appreciate an honest opinion.
Thank You,Grace

Brief Answer:
Leaky valve
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for getting back, I am sorry for the short delay in my reply. I was on call at my hospital.
Leaky valve is almost always the reason behind varicose veins causing pooling of the venous blood leading to pronounced veins around the ankle region.
It is important that you undergo this surgery as you are already symptomatic.
Laser surgery is safe, go ahead with it. Chances of blood clot are there but it is extremely rare, any surgery infact is not devoid complications but thats the risk one should take in order to get better.
