Is Left Arm Pain A Symptom Of Heart Attack?
No heart attack, with highest probability
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to HCM and thank you for your question.
I understand your concern. You see, even with the careful descriptions provided on line or in the media, left arm pain is an important accompanying factor of the chest pain in cases of chest pain due to coronary artery blockages. It is only in rare cases, such as aging patients or diabetic patients, when the heart attack/angina may be only in the character of left arm pain or jaw pain. Referring to your age of 28 years old, I would recommend you not to worry about this complaint.
It most probably is a joint, bone or muscle pain, due to climatic or positional changes, or due to acute inflammation to the area, for the above reasons. A five to seven day course of over-the-counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs: ibuprofen, ketoprofen, indomethacin) thrice a day should help. You may get an EKG done to be on the safer side. If the pain persists, feel free to write again.
I hope I was of help. I am happy to help, if you have follow-up questions. Please rate the answer, if you do not.
Best regards,
Dr. Meriton
