Is Menstruation Without Cramps Normal?

Question: I usually get awful awful cramps during my period every single time. two days ago I started bleeding with no cramping for the first time. I am still bleeding. it came about a day or two off from when I usually have my period. is it usual to have a period without cramping every once in a while? the blood also seems a bit fresher...

Getting period without pain occurs when there is no ovulation.

Anovulatory periods occurs in stress or because of hormone imbalance.

In your case I need some details before giving you opinion-
1.Do you have heavy bleeding or not?
2.periods are regular or not?
3.Are you taking any drug?
4.Any other symptoms do you have?

it wasn't as heavy as usual. periods are usually regular. no drugs or birth control. no other symptoms. could this mean I am not fertile...

It does not indicate fertility always.

sorry for late response,

Anovulatory cycles are usually heavy ,irregular and painless.

In your case you have regular period with normal flow and only once you did not have cramps. It does not signify that you are infertile. Do not worry about this.
This could sometimes happen in normal menses also.

You can take tablet Ibuprofen for cramps.
