Is Pacemaker Required When Heart Rate Is 40-50 Bpm?
Question: When is a pacemaker required?
I have been diognosed with benign ectopics and sinus arrythmia.
However i also have a very slow restinf heart rate. 40-50bpm.
I have never passed out and rarely get dizzy at all.
I am physically very active, exercising 6 days per week. But i wouldnt say I'm an athlete.
I heard though its not uncommon for "athletes" to require pacemakera later on in life.
I am concerned i will need one when i her older because my ectopics come and go in waves and can be quite bothersome and frequent at times.
I have a structually normal heart and stress test was normal.
Thanking you in advance.

Brief Answer:
Doesn't seem to anything significantly abnormal
Detailed Answer:
whatever you described seem to be normal except for ectopic being bothersome which needs to be looked into. Having 40-50 beats with sinus arrhythmia can be considered normal. especially if your heart beat response is normal on stress test again it tells us it's normal. There is no such thing as sinus arrhythmia or bradycardia needing pacemaker in later life. I don't see any such point as of now. Irrespective of our health status all of us carry some risk of what we call degenerative AV block, and may need pacemaker
