default
Posted on Tue, 18 Jul 2017
Question: How can I get my Dr. to prescribe a pain medicine? He told me last time I was in the office " That only addicts ask for pain meds." I have a lot of pain from breaking my back twice in the past. I can not stand for more than about 15-20 minutes.`

Brief Answer:
Pain medication

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

If there is genuine reason physical intractable pain or inflammation then pain medication should definitely be prescribed.

Allergy to aspirin, naproxen, and ibuprofen makes it difficult to prescribe NSAIDs. Tramadol with paracetamol combination or gabapentin can be good alternatives.
You may discuss these options with your doctor.

You mentioned cutting your wrists, I would advise you to consult a psychiatrist as soon as possible to help you in this regard. The psychiatrist can help adjust your medication and follow up the response of Cymbalta as well.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
