Is Slight Spotting During 6 Weeks Of Pregnancy A Concern?
Question: My wife is 5 weeks and 6 days pregnant her lmp was on the 3rd of December 2016 . She confirmed her pregnancy and did a scan ( tvs ) which showed a gestational sac measuring 5 weeks 2 ( on the day of confirmation) 2 days later she had very light spotting more of like a couple of threads . We went to the doctor and were asked to repeat a scan which showed no bleeding and the gestational sac had grown to 12mm from 8mm .. the doctor has asked her to take folic acid tablet and sustain sr 200mg ..and also gave her an injection ( proluton 500mg ) and repeat a scan after 2 weeks .. she's on complete rest now . Is there a cause of worry

Hi..
Thanks for writing..
I understand your concern..
Your doctor has given the right treatment. Since the sac is growing in size the chance of good pregnancy is high. Unless the fetal pole and cardiac activity appears healthy pregnancy cannot be guaranteed. So continue folic acid, susten and good bed rest. Repeat scan after 2 weeks to see for fetal viability. These medication along with rest prevents abortion.
Hope I have answered your query. Feel free to ask any doubts. Good day.
