Is Smoking Marijuana Advisable While Having Asthma?

default
Posted on Wed, 4 Jan 2017
Question: I am 61 yr old female. Diagnosed with adult onset asthma at 30. One year ago I started smoking marijuana in water pipe, one two puffs a night for insomnia. I recently got a bad case of acute bronchitis, and sinus. Acute bronchitis was treated with short burst of prednisone, breathing treatment in e/r, and antibiotic. Follow up with pulmonologist, one week later, continued at lower dose, 20mg prednisone 5 days, symbocort, and rescue inhaler. I think marijuana use caused this, and I afraid to tell my pulmonary Dr. I never did drugs in the past. I'm afraid he will think badky of me,and Im ashamed.

How long for response

Brief Answer:
Transparancy with doc advisable

Detailed Answer:
Dear Patient,

in order to give you the best possible treatment, it is important to give your pulmonologist all the information. Do not worry he will most likely not think bad of you, but will most likely recommend to not use marijuana in the future.

Other than that your Treatment is usually sufficient, best regards
