Is There Any Relation Between Diverticulitis And Bladder Burning?
Question: Have diverticulitis and my bladder burns all the time. Are these two connected?
Brief Answer:
yes
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Yes, this conditions can be connected. Diverticulitis can sometimes cause a fistula between large intestine and bladder. In such case urine can contain stool parts or smell like a stool. Frequent bkadder infections are also present.
I suggest you to start with urine analysis and culture. If fecal bacteria will be detected fistula is possible. Next step is colonoscopy (few weeks after diverticles inflammation healing) and abdominal CT.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

I had a colonoscopy about 3 yrs. ago but I'm the same way. Do I need not her one?
I had a colonoscopy 3 yrs. ago. Nothing found but diverticula. Do I need another one at this time. Nothing has changed. It is the same as when I first went with this problem. My white count has never been high and I have no fever.

Detailed Answer:
You have mentioned about bladder burning. If this keeps recurring and you have some strange particles in the urine and/or strange urine smell, fistula should be considered. One of fistula diagnostics is colonoscopy and for this reason it should be done again. But as I have mentioned before, urine culture and urine analysis should be done before any other diagnostics.
Regards.
