Brief Answer: Infected wound Detailed Answer: Hi Seems like your husband has developed an infection over the traumatic wound. Now the treatment that you are doing seems to be sufficient at the moment. It is very important to keep the affected area clean and dry. Clean it with an antiseptic liquid twice a day. Apply a topical antibiotic cream like neosporin over it twice a day. Do not apply any other cream or oil over it. See if inspite of the above treatment, you feel that the yellowish discharge is increasing or there is any increase in pain or redness or if there is any fever, then these are the signs that there is a need for oral antibiotics.
