Low Sex Desire, Pain In Back Of Neck, Left Of Head. Libido Or Torn Tendon Responsible?
I believe this problem is related to my libido somehow, when I'm not too interested in sex & try to have sex, i get the pain. But when I'm really interested in sex, it sounds appealing, the pain usually never appears.
I went without sex for about a week or so & the pain stopped happening for a few months. But it came back the otherday & is now happeneing almost everytime i have sex.
do you think it's a torn tendon that needs to heal, improper breathing, calcium buildup... those are some of the things i've read online that it might be.
any solution or ideas on what it could be would be greatly helpful.
WHEN I GET PAIN:
doing leg workouts at the gym
during sex when i wasn't too interested to begin with
trying to get a hard on, or trying to get interested in sex
pain only happend on left side of upper neck - throbbing pain, not headache
Thanks for posting your query. I can understand your concern for these symptoms and would like to rule out three possibilities:
1) The first possibility is of early coital cephalgia which is characterized by a tight, cramping, dull pain, often occurring bilaterally in the occipital or back of head, which intensifies as sexual excitement increases. It is thought to relate to excessive contraction of the head and neck musculature that occurs prior to orgasm. It can also occur when an intense work like certain exercises during gym are done which causes excessive contraction of the muscles of the neck.
2) The second possibility is of cervical spondolysis which is caused by compression of the spinal cord at the cervical level which causes pain at the back of head and in one or both shoulders. The other possibility is of muscle strain leading to spasm and compression of nerves. Diagnosis can be confirmed by x-ray neck or MRI spine.
3) The last possibility is of any brain aneurysm or any AV malformation in brain. For this it is better to get a CT/ MRI head done.
Treatment depends on the cause but if it is early coital cephalgia, then the first step is relaxation therapy and biofeedback mechanism. The other treatment options include drugs like propranolol, indomethacin, calcium channel blockers and sometimes the use of triptans. Treatment of cervical spondolysis and brain aneurysm is specific.
My suggestion would be to consult a physician and get these investigations done. Till then, make a deliberate effort to relax your neck muscle prior to sex, start intensifying your sexual excitement more gradually and not to have intercourse when under stress, tired or in succession.
