Brief Answer:
Yes, your doctor is right.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXX,
Yes, your doctor is right.
You are already a high risk case in view of past history of pul embolism. The source of embolus is usually the deep veins of lower limbs. Any surgery on lower limbs makes you prone for developing deep vein thrombosis and from this thrombosis, a piece can get detached and form an embolus which can travel upto your lungs, get lodged over there and cause pulmonary embolism.
Hence it`s recommended that you follow your doctor`s advice.

You should continue warferrin under supervision of your doctor.
I`ll not be able to comment on any herbal medicine since I do not practice it.
Raw fruits may aggravate the symptoms because of high fibre. Similarly fruit juices may aggravate the symptoms. You should consult a GE physician for your ulcerative colitis as he is the right person to advise you on this topic..
