Suggest OTC Remedies For Oral Thrush
Question: are there any otc remedies for thrush in the esophogus
Brief Answer:
esophageal thrush requires prescription systemic anti fungals
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Unfortunately over the counter treatment is not available for thrush that extends to the esophagus.
At that stage oral systemic antifungal medications are needed. Typically for candidiasis(yeast/thrush) of the esophagus- fluconazole or itraconazole tablets are needed. These are sometimes also used for thrush of the mouth that is not responding to the topical treatment such as nystatin
If there is no improvement with these meds then stronger medication such as amphotericin b, may be used.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
