Suggest Alternative Medication For Eustachian Tube Dysfunction
Ear examination, PTA, I / A , nasal endoscopy.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. It usually takes many days of regular use for the levocetirizine and fluticasone spray to show results. You have the option of adding montelukast, mometasone instead of fluticasone and steam inhalation. Hypertonic saline nasal washes (such as Nasowash) should be helpful.
2.. Get an eardrum examination, PTA ( Pure Tone Audiometry ) and I / A ( Impedance Audiometry / Tympanometry ), nasal endoscopy done. Upload the reports to discuss further treatment options.
3. Autoinflation exercises (such as the Valsalva maneuver ) should be done.
4. If medical treatment fails, a Myringotomy with grommet insertion can be done. Recently, Balloon Dilatation Tuboplasty has been available for some relief.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
I've already done PTA, SISI, Tone Decay and Tympanometry tests. results do not indicate any significant disorder.
Still my problem persists, and worsens during travel by speedy vehicles like train, car, bus etc.
Ear pressure often occurs at home. some relief is obtained by chewing, yawning or performing Valsalva, but relief does not last long. however, when not moving by speedy vehicles, I feel better. I've also tried steam inhalation for long.
How long can it last Doctor? I've to travel almost 400 kms everyday. My ears are making me Mad. I'm using Alerfix-M tablet, with a combination of Levocetrizine and montelukast.
Does Balloon Dilation of ET bring lasting relief?
Thank you again Doctor.

ETD is fairly common.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for writing back.
1. ETD is fairly common.
2. Get your investigations and treatment done as per the order in which I have mentioned them in my previous answer.
3. Hence the PTA, I/A, nasal endoscopy and Myringotomy with grommet should be considered first before Tuboplasty.
4. Please Upload the test results here.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
I'll upload my reports soon for further treatment options.

I've done nasal endoscopy with the reports showing no apparent problems with the E tubes. Still my problem persists.
Recently I'm suffering an onset of AOM, occlusion stage. My doctor prescribed Levocetrizine with phenylephrine (tab Lezyncet D).
shall upload my reports for your perusal as early as possible.
The test to results will help decide further treatment.

2. You can use OTC 0.1 % Xylometazoline nasal drops for a few days. Avoid using these for more than a week or two at a stretch.
