Question: i have been on fentynil patches for the last three yrs. 75mcg/hr. Are there any pills available that would work to keep my pain levels under control like these patches do? I have severe spinal stenosis throughout my spine. I am a 53yr. old female.

Brief Answer:
available

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,

Welcome to HealthcareMagic .

There are pills available like you may go for fentynil tablets instead of patch under guidance of your doctor.

But oral tablets are less effective compared to patches. Because when patch is applied it releases drug into fat and slowly releases into blood stream over 48-72 hrs. Have longer effect.

In case of taking tablets/pills only approximately 33% will be available for action due to metabolism in gut. Need to take more dose and associated more side effects.

I suggest you to switch to tablets for some days if your pain is not controlled then you may revert back to patches.

Hope I have answered your query . If any further queries are there I would love to help.
