Thanks for contacting Ayurveda with your health concern and going by the case history I'm of the following opinion:
1. TSH of 5.7 is a little on the high side and indicates hypothyroidism, so do check with free T3 and T4 which are actual thyroid hormones and more important than TSH.
2. Since it is a hormonal/metabolism problem thus check with her blood picture, blood sugar, lipid profile, ultrasonography of abdomen [to exclude PCOS]
3. As there is no substitute of hormone in any -pathy thus levothyroxine has to be given in association with other drugs
4. At her age [25] it is wise to see an Endocrinologist/Gynecologist as left untreated it may lead to fertility issues
5. DIET REGIME
i. TAKE: iodized salt,sea food,garlic,onions,meat,chicken,salmon,tuna,whole unrefined grains,dairy products,banana,egg,low fat milk,mushrooms,guava, carrots,cucumber,black beans,navy beans,red kidney beans,split beans,black pepper,cinnamon,turmeric,mint,coriander,apple,apricots,olive oil,cherries, dates,kiwi,papaya,pineapple,brown rice,prunes,coconut oil
ii. Avoid: linseed/flax oil,peanuts,walnuts, turnip,green mustard,mustard, cauliflower,peaches,coffee,spinach,cabbage,soybean,canlola oil,radish,sweet potato, white bread, white flour, junk food, pears,millet
iii. You can practice: suryanamaskar, yogmudrasana, sarvangasana, matasyasana, bhramri pranayam.
6. The result oriented medicine which I usually prepare and prescribe to my patient(s) along with Thyroxine is:
i. “Triphala capsules fortified with powerful antioxidants [like amla [emblica officinalis],mulethi [glycyrrhiza glabra],haritki [terminalia chebula], baheda [terminalia bellirica] which regulates the Gastrointestinal function
