Suggest Cream For Sun Spot On Face

Question: My boy friend had a sun spot on his face that he didn't like. He used dettol, full strength on it. Now it is very red and is sensitive to touch. What kind of ointments or creme should he use to keep it moist, so it does not scar? Will this scar? What can he do to prevent it from scarring?

Brief Answer: This will not scar Detailed Answer: Hi and thank you so much for this query. I am so sorry to hear about this sensitive spot on your boyfriend's face. It will not scar unless there is an ulcer present. Scar tissue only develops when you have a wound with loss of tissue that necessitates the production of new tissue to replace it. From what you have described, I think he has a sensitive spot because of the inflammatory reaction that developed following the use of the full strength dettol and not because of a wound. However, the black spot would remain an not disappear. There is no need for any special ointment. Keeping it clean, staying well hydrated by drinking much water would be enough.. Also, is this the first time he is having a sunburn or did he spend severals hours in the sun? Is he taking any medications that may explain this? In all, there will be no scar tissue formation because he has no open wound. The spot would remain and he needs no special ointment to prevent scar tissue formation. A pain medication like Tylenol/Ibuprofen can be of help to relief the pains. I hope this helps. I wish him well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarification if need be. Thanks.
