Hello Dr. Dadapeer,
You were bang-on there !!
So let me ask you more, what signals I should be looking for to consult a specialist to see if I need specs for better visibility?
Brief Answer:
Specs are required if there is decreased vision
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thank you for the follow up query.
Specs as you have mentioned, I guess you meant spectacles.
Spectacles are required if you are having decreased vision or in some specific conditions as a protective device.
To know whether you have decreased vision close one eye and look for clarity and repeat with the other eye, if there is decreased visibility in one or both the eyes you require to undergo refraction and correction and correction of the same by using spectacles.
If the vision is fine without any diminution, then spectacles may be required for its properties like antiglaring to prevent dryness of eyes or discomfort of the eyes while using computer. The antiglare coated spectacles are usually not required for all people who use computer for long hours, but spectacles can be used if symptoms like irritation of the eyes which requires use of artificial tears eye drops are present.
So if you are having symptoms like irritation or discomfort you can try using artificial tears eye drops, if the symptoms won't respond then you can use spectacles with antiglare coating.
For prescription of spectacles you can either consult a optometrist or a ophthalmologist.
Hope the information is helpful to you.
