9 Year Kid, Wearing High Power Glasses. What Type Of Eye Exercise Or Diet Will Help?

Hi doctors, my daughter is 9 years old. she is wearing glasses from last two years. her power is (cylindrical) -3.25 (right) and -4.50 (left). I am very worried for her. please advise me how her eye sight can be improved, in terms of any particular nutrient or exercises. Dr. says that this is genetic, but me, my husband, even my in-laws and parents don't use specks. what is the meaning of genetic. As she grows old, will it effect her power also. Please doctor guide me how to handle this.

Dear Vineeta,

There is no absolute way to "improve" eyesight that goes wrong due to errors of refraction, as this is something that depends on the shape of the eyeball and the flexibility and properties of the lens. However, making sure that she keeps the glasses on throughout the day, sees not more than 2 hours of TV, that too from the correct distance, and eats carrots, mangoes, and other foods containing Vitamin A, which is very important for the eye.

Hi,

Refractory errors are due to defects in the light mechanism in the eye.

Her sight is improved by wearing appropriate glasses for the correction of refractory error.

There is no particular nutrient or exercise to improve the sight errors which occur due to errors in the refraction.
