Suggest Diet For An Infant
high callorie semisolids/ frequent small feeds
Detailed Answer:
Hi Dear
Welcome to the HCM,
Weight of the baby is almost fine with the charts but can be improved more with little efforts to reach the 90th percentile on the chart.
Try to reduce milk intake and increase semisolids /especially if bottle fed.
Introduce the intake of semisolids gradually and frequently.
Semisolids (which are acceptable to the baby) to be given in small quantity and very frequently,
Children are fussy at this age, they are hungry, but they always refuse to take by their habit. Here we have to change their habit .
When offered frequently, every time children may take one or two spoon out of your ten spoons offered. but do not disheartened, just continue your efforts till they start recongising/liking the taste of new food you want to introduce and also they till they understand that this new food has to be swallowed.
Avoid bottle feeds.
No dilution of milk. Milk can be fortified with some protein preparation like Proteinex etc
Continue with mulitvitamins like zincovit drops and iron drops like Tonoferon drops (one drop per kg) along with some vitamin D preparations.
Please select the semisolids which are having high calloric value like dal. rice, curd, gruel,porridge/oats, kheer made of concentrated milk, addition of edible oils, butter, cheese, chicken soups. boiled egg yolk, fish etc.
Hope the query is answered.
Please feel free for the further clarification
thanks
Viral RTI
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Viral Respiratory tract infections are quite common in this rainy season. Can be tackled with symptomatic treatment only
Antihistaminc decongestant medicine Like sinarest about 3. 5 ml 8 hourly to be started.
Paracetamol @15 mg per kg 4 to 6 hourly basis can be tried for the fever or headache purpose.
Hydration and nutrition should be taken care of because with viral infection appetite of the affected baby usually is nil.
steam inhalation should help in breathing.
If cough increases with fever and there is some breathing difficulty then please contact your pediatrician for further help and evaluation.
I would like to prefer freshly prepared homemade eatables for the baby instead of cerelac or tinned food
Thanks
Paracetamol can be skipped
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Paracetamol can be skipped if there is no fever or headache.
This can be used SOS.
But antihistaminic decongestant sinarest AF can be used for the relief of symptoms of cold.
