Suggest Home Remedies For Dandruff And White Patches On The Face
Question: Dear doctor,
I want to know if I have Psoriasis, how can I send you pictures?
I have white scaly dandruff on my scalp (in clusters), some scaling behing my ears and on my forehead and 2-4 0.5mm diameter scales on my body. It seem liek I have psoriasis and my doctor has asked me to use a zinc pyridine shampoo and apply Tacrolimus 0.1%solution 0.1%. I am not sure if it is helping me, especially the patches on my face.
Is there anything else that I can do to help alleviate the white patches, especially on my face? Like home remedies, any specific soap, diet etc?
I am also on acne treatment currently- isotretinoin 10%, finasteride, vovisun.

You may use a moderately potent topical steroid e.g Flutivate cream for facial patches, twice daily for 2 weeks. Topical steroid like fluticasone propionate 0.05% (Flutivate cream) is very effective for facial psoriasis.
Tacrolimus is also efffective for facial psoriasis but it it greasy and it may take longer.
If you do not want to use a topical steroid you may rather use pimecrolimus 1% cream (Elidel cream), twice daily, for the facial patches.
Don't use any home remedies. They may cause irritation and more dryness.
Use a gentle cleanser for face wash e.g cetaphil cleansing lotion, twice daily.
