Suggest Ideal Diet And Lifestyle Changes When Suffering From Graves Disease

Life style and diet changes alone wont prevent relapse
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome
I appreciate your concern
Methimazole is an anti thyroid medication used in patients with Graves Disease. It can be continued if there is good response with no relapse or recurrence. Radiation treatment of the thyroid is preferred by many especially in patients in whom anti thyroid medication aren't effective. Radio active iodine treatment would lead to the gland being under active and thus requiring thyroxine to be taken life long. Surgical option is resorted to in candidates who aren't deemed fit for radio iodine treatment or if there is a suspicion of malignancy. For controlled disease, such as in your case surgery is not considered as the first two options are much safer and more effective. I am afraid these are the options you have available at the moment. Lifestyle changes alone haven't been shown to have contributed towards patient being relapse free in the absence of either anti thyroid or radioiodine treatment. Active grave's eye disease has to be screened for and you should consult an ophthalmologist in that regard. Try to avoid smoking. Selenium supplementation can be beneficial as it protects cells from oxidative damage. The Mediterranean organic low salt diet is a good initiative and would also help in the overall management.
Wishing you best of health
Thanks
