Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
Jaundice is just a symptom. There are many different causes of jaundice.
Your mother is having jaundice because of the obstruction of the flow of bile. The obstruction is due to cancer (hilar cholangiocarcinoma) which is causing obstruction in the bile duct.
So to keep jaundice under control, the obstruction has to be relieved. Diet will not bring jaundice under control in this case.
To relieve obstruction, ERCP has to be done. You can discuss with your gastroenterologist about this procedure.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

Dr.R.K.

Thanks Dr. R.K for your advice . Based on the reports that I have attached and your medical experience with this type of cancer cases can you comment what is the life expectancy for the patient with treatment . Any other useful advice will be really helpful .
Brief Answer:
5 Year survival rate is 10-15%
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
ERCP is just to relieve the jaundice. It will not alter the course of the disease.
Sometimes ERCP will be difficult in these cases and multiple attempts may have to be tried.
Alternatively PTBD may be done.
All these only to relieve jaundice.
As far as life expectancy is concerned, the 5 year survival rate is about 10-15%.
