Suggest Medical Tests To Rule Out Hypothyroid

Question: I am not sure if I have a problem with my thyroid. I am 63 years old, good health, non-smoker, appropriate weight, non drinker, exercise, no family history of any thyroid problems but my quiz scores are iffy. Should I have a thorough thyroid test to see if I am ailing from this? Thank you, doctor.

Brief Answer:
thyroid testing
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
You are concerned that you may have hypothyroidism. The only true way of diagnosing hypothyroidism is to do blood work. When you have that they will be able to tell you if you have low thyroid or not. The usual signs of low thyroid are edema or swelling, feeling fatigued, slow heart rate constipation and possibly enlargement of the thyroid gland. I recommend that you see your medical provider and they will obtain the proper tests for low thyroid. If they find you are low on thyroid they will give your replacement medication.
