Suggest Medication For Basal Cell Carcinoma
Question: Hi, I am a 69 year old man in good health.
Recently my dermatologist MD removed a basel cell skin cancer from my face in the area by my nose.
I am aware that basel carcinomas are rarely dangerous, but they do indicate a higher risk for the much more serious melanoma skin cancer.
Also as a child, when people were largely unaware of the dangers of sun exposure, I had several serious sunburns in sequential years.
There are many scientific studies that indicate that aspirin, just two regular enteric aspirins per week, significantly lower the risk for melanoma particularly, and also for other cancers. (To find these studies, simply Google: "Aspirin and Melanoma".)
In my previous writing, I informed you that I am on Xarelto indefinitely due to an unexplained DVT in my left lower leg.
Doe the fact that I had severe sun exposure as a child and a basel cell skin carcinoma
make taking a regular aspirin only twice a weak reasonable for me even though I am on Xarelto?
I should add that I have no history of bleeding. Even at my six month dental hygiene plaque scrapings and cleaning, I have very little bleeding, even on the Xarelto.
Thank you very much. I am very satisfied with the services I have been receiving from your site.

Brief Answer:
Studies with Xarelto lacking
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through the details. As evident from studies, aspirin intake is associated with chemoprotection against the development of a number of types of cancer. However, similar studies are lacking with respect to Xarelto (Rivaroxaban) which is a similar blood thinner. So, it is hard to suggest.
Since you did develop basal cell carcinoma you need to remain under periodic follow up due to the chances of recurrence. I would not be worried about anything else.
Feel free to write back.
