Brief Answer:
Better to get done chest x ray.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
You are having chronic cough (cough for more than 2 weeks), expectoration.
You are also a smoker.
So we should definitely rule out lung infection and bronchitis.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, chest x ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
Chest x ray is needed to rule out lung infection.
PFT is must for the diagnosis of bronchitis.
You may need higher antibiotics, inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and mucolytic (N acetyl cystine, ambroxol)drugs depending on reports.
Please let me know
1. For how many years you have smoked?
2. Which antibiotic you have taken?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Hi Sir ,

Thank you for your response .

3 month back I visited Plumnologist and got the above tests done and he said there is no problem found in the chest and lungs however he advised me to take the below medicines for one month and I have taken for 2 weeks and stopped .
1) Nasal SPray IP Fluticasone
2) Tablet - Montek LC
3) INhaler for breathing as he found little difference before and after inhaler in lunch test .
Visited Doctor in : XXXXXXX
Stopped smoking in September
Took Pharmasitic tables in September 3rd week .

Now after 2 months of visiting the doctor - I stopped smoking since one month and I feel I would pass all the tests now because when I was smoking heavily - THe tests passed and now since one month no smoking - I might pass the tests again .

Do you recommend any medicines to take up and change in life style so that I can get relief from cough .

The anibotics and cough syrup which I took one week back - I do not remember and medical pharmacist suggested me those and asked me to take for 3 days morning and evening but still no change in cough .

Do you want me to continue those tables given by doctor again ?

Brief Answer:
Which inhaler do you have?

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.

No need to go for tests again.
I want to know the name of inhaler given by pulmonologist.

Along with inhaler I usually suggest the following in my patients:
1. Tablet Azithromycin 500mg 1-0-0
2. Tablet Abphyllin SR 200 0-0-1
3. Syrup Brozedex or bronchorex 1-1-1.
Take all these for 5 days.

Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health.
Thanks.
