Suggest Medication For Fatty Liver Disease
I recently got a whole body check up done. Most of the things seem fine but there are some indications that I have fatty liver. My question is if i need to take any medicines? or lifestyle changes can help, such as reducing the alcohol intake and exercising regularly?
Regards,
XXXX
Life style modifications with Liv 52 is advisable
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
I had gone through your reports and I really appreciate your concern.
You have high cholesterol and signs of liver disease as the liver enzymes are elevated like GGT, SGPT, SGOT
Apart from this all the parameters are withing normal range.
I would advise you to follow these guidelines
Complete abstinence of alcohol and smoking
you should avoid fatty fried and junk food
you should take lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and dietary fiber supplements
you should exercise regularly like aerobics, swimming and walking or jogging.
I would advise you for an ultrasound abdomen to see for fatty infiltration
You should take liv 52 for 2 to 3 months with sticky following the above mentioned measures
Hope this answers your question
Please feel free to ask for follow up, I will be happy to help you
Best wishes
I have already started avoiding alcohol and have been sober for last one week. I don't smoke at all. Making sure I am getting my daily dose of fruits and salads now. I am running @3-4 time a week and running a minimum of 6 kms at one go. I have few questions:
1. I read an article that AST/SGOT levels can be seen increased if the test are taken after strenuous exercise. I remember the blood sample i gave was 1 hour after I had done a 10km non stop run. This was my longest distance run in last 6 months. Could this be one of the reasons of the elevated reading? Since as such I don't have any symptoms of a liver condition.
2. How much dose of Liv 52 should i take daily? Currently I am taking 2 tables each in morning and evening...after meals.
3. Do you think weekend drinking in moderation is still fine? I have decided to not consume any alcohol for 5 days in a week.
Look forward to your reply.
Thanks.
complete abstinence of alcohol is advisable
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
Welcome again and thanks for the follow up question
Strenuous exertion may increase liver enzymes but not to the extent as much you have in your reports so it might not be related to running or exercise.
You are taking right doses of Liv 52 continue with 2 tabs twice daily.
I would advise you for complete abstinence of alcohol until you get the normal reports, I will not advise you to take liquor on weekends so you need to think again and quit drinking for a period of 3 to 6 months
Daily exercise and weight management is advisable.
I would advise you to get an ultrasound of the abdomen done
I am sure with these life style modifications, you will be able to gain your good health again
