I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Unfortunately, there are a lot of antihypertensives that could have been prescribed to him. Therefore unless you ask the prescribing doctor, there is no way anybody else can even take a guess.

Amlodipine, hydrochlorthiazide, atenolol etc. are commonly prescribed in such an occasion and could have been prescribed to him.
