Brief Answer:
Terbinafine or itraconazole are commonly used; terbinafine 200 mg better

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Terbinafine and itraconazole are the medications used to treat nail fungus.

Out of the two above listed, terbinafine is more commonly used for nail fungus but can cause some amount of fluctuation in liver enzymes and so if this drug is chosen, regular monitoring of liver function will be required.

The same with itraconazole also, it can also cause some amount of variation in liver enzyme levels; but returns to normal once the drug is discontinued.

Both these can cause some amount of fluctuation, and all I would say is that it would be safer to use terbinafine, but report for a check on liver enzyme levels at least once a week or once every 2 weeks.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.
