Suggest Medication To Alleviate Pain Post Shoulder Surgery
Question: I'm having shoulder surgery tmrw for a S.L.A.P tear. I saw Dr. on Tuesday for my pre-op and he gave me a prescription for percocet 10/325 so I'd have it for surgery. I filled it on the 3rd and have taken 1 a day, last 6 days because no Aleve or Ibuprofen for me and Tylenol wasn't helping at all. Will this cause my body to have tolerance to the percocet after surgery for pain?
Brief Answer:
It will not cause a tolerance.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Taking percocet for just a week will not cause any tolerance. It will work well even after the surgery. You need not worry. After the surgery the pain killers are usually needed for 1-2 weeks only the pain subsides after that on its own. You can take percocet as has been prescribed by your doctor.
I hope this answers your query.
