Brief Answer:
Edaravone is a new addition.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to HealthcareMagic!

This year there is a new drug which has been approved for ALS. It is called Edaravone (brand name Radicava) and it was approved by the FDA in May of this year. Mechanism is not perfectly understood but it is thought to act by reducing oxidative stress.

It is not a cure though, it merely aims to slow the progression. Unfortunately there still is no cure and the only other drug available Riluzole also only slows progression down, doesn't alter the final outcome.
