Question: Yes you can help. I am having a gout flareup for the first time in 6 years. I need to be able to walk and get around. what pain relievers can I ask my doctor for to get XXXXXXX again?

The pain killer that works best for gout is indomethacin. In addition to pain killers we have to use a combination of medications to relieve the inflammation and help the body clear the uric acid. These medications include allopurinol, prednisone, indomethacin or colchicine. In patients who have persistent pain I often use prednisone for 3 to 5 days and patients do well. I would advise you inquire from his physician if that may be an option.
