Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

If you would have presented to me as an outpatient,I would have told you that although steroid drugs like prednisolone are a good option for acute radicular pain related to disc but as this medicine makes you feel bad, this should be substituted with some other drug. These other drugs can be non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(like ibuprofen as you already are taking sometimes.Other non-steroidal drugs can be naproxen or etoricoxib) or NSAIDS.These should be taken in acute stage, regularly for a few days.

Also,anti-neuralgic drugs(like amitriptyline, duloxetine or pregabalin)should be started. If oral medicines bring no improvement, epidural steroid injections are a good option.

Strict ergonomics,Spinal exercises and chiropractor's manipulation are also important. An expert physiotherapist's opinion should be sought.

Hope that I have answered your query. If you have some follow up questions,I shall be glad to answer else please close the thread, rate it and write a review as your rating will be of help to me.

I just want to calm down old back injury. All of the above pushes patients off the grid. I have to work. No wonder my regular doctors' office was empty yesterday at 3:00 PM.
