Suggest Rehabilitation Therapies For Brain Stroke

Question: Hello Doctor! One of my friend's father suffered a brain stoke in Oct 2015 and has been recuperating since then. There has been considerable improvement in his hand and leg reflexes due to physiotherapy. Speech is not coherent yet. But he doesn't cooperate anymore. He is not ready for any more physiotherapy and gets angry and beats people around when persuading him for the same. He is in Trichy, a city in Tamil Nadu, XXXXXXX How can we convince him for exercises and what are the Stoke rehabilitation procedure for both patient and his family. Any kind of professional counselling will help? If so, any contacts in Trichy? Thanks. XXXX

Physiotherapy is part of the stroke rehab procedure. It has to be continued till the residual weakness is minimal sometimes up to one year. Speech therapy should be started as well.
The new symptoms of being agitated or angry needs separate evaluation. There may be fresh bleed as well sometimes. So get a Neurologist evaluation first if all well then you need Neuropsychiatrist. Further counseling would be the therapy with a Psychologist.
You can go to Sowmanyasa Hospital. I think Dr Gopalakrishna is there. Else you can meet anyone in the hospital for psychiatry evaluation.
They will have Psychologist as well.
If you do not find good reviews then you should head to XXXXXXX a better city.
