needs to control cardiovascular risk factors
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
your husband has atherosclerosis (including coronary artery disease) and an aneurysm. Both of these conditions require controlling the cardiovascular risk factors. For the aneurysm the blood pressure in particular is very important. A blood pressure above 125-130mmHg can be detrimental to the faulty vessel wall and cause aneurysm enlargement and eventually even rupture. Since he's also having sleep apnea, hypertension and heart problems are expected, so a good management of this problem is also recommended.
Patients with aneurysms and angina should avoid strenuous physical activity but should engage into regular mild activity like walking every day. He should maintain a healthy body weight, abstain from smoking or drinking too much alcohol and eat healthy food (no saturated fat, avoid sweats, eat a lot of fiber, etc).
Regarding drug treatment he should control his blood pressure - this is of utmost importance. I suppose that his cardiologist should have - already - prescribed clopidogrel or aspirin, antihypertensive and lipid-lowering medications (you haven't provided test results but most patients need them too).
This is a general approach to such patients. If you'd like more details or clarifications please do ask!
Kind Regards!
He takes baby aspirin, blood pressure, cholesterol, anti depressant pills. Has a c pap machine, has hyper tension, cannot stand any noise at all, takes a nap at noon, high stressed.
I am so very tired from no sleep from his snoring I have to go to sleep now. Can I talk to you tomorrow?
Also, should he go to the cardiologist at our local hospital or stay at the Veterans hospital. I am Very worried about this!!
I am good nag to bed now. Talk tomorrow Please
surgery may be needed in the future
Detailed Answer:
At this point the risk for rupture isn't high so surgery is an option for the future.
Coping with stress is essential in hypertension management.
Any cardiologist can manage such a case. The cardiologiat might refer him in the future for surgical correction. It doesn't matter whether the cardiologist works in this particular hospital or anywhere else.
And of course we can continue tomorrow. You consent any message at any time and I'll answer when I get the chance to see it.
Kind regards!
