Suggest Remedies For Bruising And Pain On The Ribs After A Fall
Information
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,
I am sorry you fell and were injured. You didn't mention if there is increased pain when you take a deep breath so I will assume that is not an issue.
If you don't have pain except when standing, and that is cramping pain, consider using hot compresses on the area twice a day to relax the muscles.
It is hard to know without examining you how deep or extensive the bruising is and your limitation of movement. So, if there is extensive bruising or tenderness in the ribs, consider going in to be seen in person.
If the cramping is severe, you may benefit from several days of a muscle relaxant such as cycolbenzaprine (Flexaril) or other types of muscle relaxants.
If the muscle or tendon has been injured, you may also benefit from brief physical therapy to stretch those muscles that are contracting.
Tylenol or Ibuprofen can help with the pain associated with the cramping, but won't help the cramping itself. If using ibuprofen, take after you have some food in the stomach. For an injury, if you don't have stomach problems, you can use up to 600 mg 3 times per day.
I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information.
