Darkening of skin may occur due to various reasons like
1) Melasma : characterised by flat hyperpigmented rash on face
2) Acanthosis nigricans : characterised by hyperpigmented skin usually thickened
3) Amyloidosis: it is characterised by hyperpigmented patches usually in rippled pattern . The condition worsens on scrubbing.
