it would be better to check for any hormonal abnormalities
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for posting your query in HealthCare Magic,
I have read through your query and I can understand your concern.
I would like to know if you have any other associated features:
- fatigue all throughout the day,
- intolerance to heat or cold,
- any family history of diabetes
- ever checked for blood count to see if you are anemic or not?
Some of the possibilities for your symptoms are hypothyroidism, anemia, respiratory conditions (obstructive sleep apnea) which causes you tiredness due to the insufficient oxygen supply, diabetes.
Meanwhile, I would suggest you to
* consume a well balanced diet which comprises of vegetables and fruits (which is a must).
* take a glass of milk before you sleep
* engage in physical activities like gym or outdoor games
* massaging oil over the sole of the foot has also been reported by some patients to work well for better sleep
* avoid any day time naps
* avoid undue stress if any
Hope this helps
Kindly revert back for any further queries
Thanks and regards

You seem to have a circadian rhythm disorder
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for the follow up query,
Thanks for pointing out that your lifestyle includes working in shifts which is a major cause of your symptoms. You seem to have a circadian rhythm disorder- irregular sleep wake cycle.A circadian rhythm is a normal 24 hours cycle which is endogenoulsy formed by one's own being. So any alterations to the regular time of sleeping cycle will disturb this cycle.
This condition is characterised by:
- Excessive daytime sleepiness and/or insomnia
- Normal total sleep time
- Irregularity of sleep and of daytime activities, including eating
- No consistent pattern of peak alertness
I can suggest you some lifestyle changes, but if it has become a constant source of frustration in your life, it would be for your best to consult with a specialist and they will be able to guide you further with or without the use of medicines.
Meanwhile, I would also suggest it best for you to try to discontinue the present work practise and to look for a new job if possible.
- avoid bouts of repeated tea and caffeine intake
- avoid any habits of smoking, alcohol- as nicotine is a stimulant and alcohol interferes with the REM sleep
- ensure good ventilation
- minimise any distractions while sleeping
- you may consider the use of sedatives if advised by your doctor after consultation.
Hope this helps
