Suggest Remedies For Fever, Cold And Sneezing In A Child
Likely to be due to a viral infection
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through the details and understand your concern. Most often such symptoms are due to viral infections and antibiotics are ineffective in such cases. Irrespective of use of antibiotics, it usually spontaneously resolves in 5-7 days.
Children often suffer from viral infections that may manifest with fever. If your child is otherwise active and playful, I would not be concerned.
If your child has fever with temperature more than 100°F, you need to give paracetamol or acetaminophen (Calpol) to bring down. If paracetamol is not effective in bringing down the temperature, you need to use Meftal-P (mefenamic acid) which is more effective. The minimum gap between two doses of Calpol is 4-6 hours. The doses of Calpol and Meftal P are independent of each other. Minimum gap between doses of Meftal P is 6-8 hours. Also use tepid sponging.
Giving steam inhalation to your child helps in reducing the congestion. Water vapor will reach deep inside and would help in diluting the cough and thus would provide relief.
If she has cold or nasneezing give her some antiallergic like cetirizine once daily for next few days.
Hopefully that would help.
Regards
Please let me know the body weight of the child.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. The choice between Calpol and Meftal P is upon you. You can give any one of them. The dose of Calpol should be 15 mg/kg/dose while for Meftal P it should be 7.5 mg/kg/dose.
Let me know the weight of your child and I will be able to give you the correct doses for the medicines including cetirizine.
Unless there are chills and rigors or unless the child becomes lethargic, I do not think that blood tests are needed.

Doses mentioned
Detailed Answer:
You need to give her 6ml of Crocin DS or 12.5 ml of Crocin. Alternatively you can give 7.5ml of Meftal P (100mg/5ml). Give her Cetirizine syrup 5 ml once daily.
Since she is growing dull, it would perhaps be a good idea to visit a doctor.
