Suggest Remedies For Heartburn And Difficulty In Swallowing
Question: Hi, I am very worried. I had an endoscopy in January following difficulty swallowing and severe heartburn The endoscopy diagnosed hiatus hernia, mild Esohpagitis, and moderate gastritis. I was prescribed Omeprozol, which was very effective at treating the reflux, but which (I thought) came with some quite severe side effects.
I recently reduced my dose of omeprozol due to theside effects, and came off completely this week when it was substituted with ranitidine. However, in the last few days, i have developed severely itchy skin, and the whites of my eyes are now yellowing. I am panicking that the endoscopy missed a stomach cancer, and that this has now caused jaundice whcih suggests that the cancer has spread.
what are your thoughts on all of this, and what should I do now ?. If you could let me know, that would be great.

I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows:
1. You are reporting to have done endoacopy in januar and after omeprasole use your symptoms has been improved.
in cases of stomach cancer the symptoms doesnt get improved by omepeasole.
2. It is really rare to miss something in upper endoscopy especially if the physiacian has some years of experience.
Otherwise please upload to me your photos of upper endoscopy.
3. with regards to your current symptoms like itching and yellow sclera , these may be due to:
- hepatitis due to viral infection/drug use like omeprasole
- alcohol use
-biliary tree sludge or stones or pancreas issues.
4. To my opinion you need to do :
- blook work
- liver pannel and bilirubine level
- abdominal ultrasound
to rule out/confirm liver and gallblader issues.
