What Causes Yellowish Tongue With Red Spots While Having Hiatal Hernia/gastritis?

What would cause a yellowish tongue with red spots. Just a few red spots toward the front of the tongue but more prevalent toward the back. My tongue is a little sore. Recently had EGD/Bravo procedure done and was diagnosed with hiatal hernia and gastritis - don t know if that has anything to do with it.

Hello,

Your symptoms could be suggestive of acid reflux or a fungal infection. I recommend performing a tongue discharge bacterial culture and test for fungal infection. It is also important checking iron and vitamin B12 plasma levels for possible deficiency.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
