Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.
From the second you reported I am suspicious that you might have mild esophagitis or gastritis. This can be caused by an increase in acid secretion in the stomach and esophagus.
You can contribute to symptoms of heartburn and belching as well as bloating. I would recommend that you consider using the Pepcid but I would consider take it on a daily basis for a couple of weeks. This will help to decrease the total assets secretions in your stomach and esophagus and will promote healing.
As with anything we discuss here, we always recommend that you review this with your primary care physician as well
thank you again for sending the question.

Detailed Answer:
hello again.
I don't think a viral infection or flu would contribute to the symptoms you have described.
actually I think Prilosec would be a good choice at 20 mg daily. I would try doing it for about two weeks to see if your symptoms significantly improved. If not or if things seem worse I would talk to your primary care doctor for further follow-up instructions.
Thank you again for sending your question.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
It is hard to say for sure what exactly started the gastritis or esophagitis. We commonly observe that stress can often be at least one factor. Diet can also play a role with spicy foods, hot beverages, greasy foods predisposing to some gastritis or esophagitis.
You certainly do need to give the medication some more time to actually work. At least a few weeks I would say at a minimum.
Don't worry, you can have coffee or alcohol or beverages in moderation. Eating food close to the time before going to bed is also something you want to avoid which it appears you are already aware of.
I am confident your symptoms will gradually improve over time.
Sincerely,
Dr. Galamaga

Detailed Answer:
you can continue to eat a well-balanced diet with good hydration. I would consider using the Prilosec you follow up with your doctor. At some point it might be helpful for you to have allergy testing done to see if there are particular foods that cause discomfort put in your body.
Thanks again for the follow up. I wish you all the best and continued good health.
